A Cheerleader With Down Sydrome Was Bullied So These Players Stood Up For Her In A Big Way

by Chris Riotta

The world needs more young men like this.

Middle school basketball players in Wisconsin called a time out during their game so they could confront bullies who were criticizing the way a cheerleader with Down syndrome was dancing on the sidelines.

The boys walked off the court because they could no longer take seeing the harassment that was happening in the stands.

Now, the young cheerleader never walks the school's hallways alone; the boys walk with her to make sure she's OK.

I wish we lived in a world where this sort of unnecessary harassment never happened, but it feels good knowing there are even younger people who are refusing to accept it.
