Protesters Replace Forever 21 Display With 'Black Lives Matter' T-Shirts

by Emily Arata

On Saturday, the pastel and lace clothes usually covering the mannequins of Forever 21 in New York City's Union Square were hidden by dark t-shirts reading, "Black Lives Matter."

The shirts, placed in the store's window as part of a vigilante effort, were part of the covert task of Never 21, a group dedicated to the memory of black youth killed at the hands of police.

Gothamist reports the campaign lasted about 20 minutes before the store's manager caught on and had the shirts removed from the front.

On its website, Never 21 pledges its work is far from over, writing,

We will not forget these lives -- and will continue to do everything in our power to ensure that their voices continue to be heard.
