A genius in Brazil thought it was a good idea to give inmates a break from prison, as the prisoners were granted a holiday vacation.

Not surprisingly to anyone, a large number of those granted a vacation did not bother returning to jail.

26,486 prisoners were given the time off from hard time for good behavior over the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, and over two thousand of them are still at large.

According to the penal execution law, the inmates who have shown good behavior and have completed at least a sixth of their sentence can be granted vacation from minimum security prisons.

Imagine what would happen if this was allowed in America. All hell would break loose!
