Former Central Bank Chief Of Iran Caught Entering Germany With A Single $70M Check
The man caught trying to enter Germany with a $70 million check is believed to be Iran’s former central bank chief.
Customs officers at Duesseldorf Airport allegedly found the 8-digit check in Tahmasb Mazaheri‘s luggage on January 21st upon his arrival from Turkey.
The check, issued by the Bank of Venezuela, was said to be in the possession of an unidentified 59-year-old man, who has since been identified as Tahmasb Mazaheri.
Now an investigation has been launched to see if there was any sort of money laundering involved, as the man declared less than $13,644 worth of items to Turkey officials.
A fine is a near guarantee, but Mazaheri may face jail time if convicted.
