Dietary habits vary vastly around the world, and while this may be common knowledge, seeing food consumption side-by-side really forces us to step back and realize the differences.

Photographer Peter Menzel has compiled this incredible project, showing what one week of groceries looks like in countries all over the world.

The differences are stark, as the diets between those in Australia and Chad couldn’t be more unalike.

While countries like the United States and Great Britain have tons of processed foods, the groceries of India and Ecuador contain many fresh fruits and veggies, accompanied by people who look much happier.

Italy’s diet contains lots of bread and pasta to nobody’s surprise, while Mongolia features meat and more eggs than we can count.

Check out these breathtaking photos below, and let us know which grocery list you would prefer!

When ISIS first began, it relied on the assistance of other states in the region for funding: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar. Americans Overwhelmingly Prefer Drinking Red Wine Over White Wine

Bring on the purple lips, wine teeth and grape-colored stains on otherwise clean white shirts. Americans have spoken, and they’re drinking red wine instead of white. A poll conducted by wine retailer CorkGuru shows that 58 percent of the US prefers a merlot to a chardonnay. As consumers get older, they like red wine even […]

Someday, My Prince Will Come — The Hope For A Fairytale Love Story

Once upon a time, I was waiting in line at Starbucks, eagerly anticipating my triple grande, two-pump, nonfat, 180-degree, light foam, white mocha latte. It was 7:30 am on a Monday and the throngs of customers stood dazed as they contemplated their drink orders while mentally preparing for the workweek that lay ahead. Finally, it […]

How My Picky And Spoiled Upbringing Better Prepared Me For The Real World

There is a negative persona that comes with the word “spoiled.” It refers to the Veruca Salts of the world, who get what they want, when they want it. We can pinpoint these girls in movies and we grow to hate them for their lack of hard work and always being handed everything they could ask for, […]

Put Down Your Chopsticks! This Spork Is The Game-Changing Way To Eat Ramen

Ramen, while hands down the best food on Earth, is admittedly kind of hard to eat, unless in sushi or burrito form. You can go the chopstick route, in which case you’re left with a bowl of (delicious) hot, salty ramen juice when all of the noodles are gone. And you’ll inevitably spill the liquid […]
