In order to curb its out of control drug epidemic, Colombia is looking to possibly decriminalize synthetic drugs, including the ever-popular ecstasy.

The proposal was brought about by Justice Minister Ruth Stella Correa, in an effort to curb both drug use and drug trafficking in the country.

The country has been notorious for being one of the world’s largest exporters of drugs, especially for its cocaine.

With cocaine production dropping significantly in recent years, party drugs like ecstasy have increased in popularity and addiction.

Prohibition has historically not been successful in the war on drugs, so Colombia is looking to try a different approach.

Will it work? Nobody will know unless it is implemented.
