This Adorable Couple Will Get Married On Groom's 103rd Birthday

After 27 years of dating, George Kirby and Doreen Luckie are finally getting married.

But Kirby won't be carrying his new bride over the threshold anytime soon: At 102 years old, the former boxer has enough trouble just walking over it.

The couple from East Sussex, UK, met back in 1988 through a social group designed to help elders find and make friends.

After nearly three decades of dating (and considerable pressure from their seven combined children), Kirby finally popped the question (on Valentine's Day!) to Luckie, who is 11 years his junior.

The pair plan to wed on June 13, just after Kirby's 103rd birthday.

The groom told the Telegraph of his proposal,

I didn't get down on one knee because I didn't think I would have been able to get back up.

(We're guessing their wedding night will be rather uneventful).
