A shocking video of an NYPD officer shooting the dog of a homeless man who had a seizure in broad daylight in front of witnesses has been posted on YouTube.

As we reported earlier, a dog was shot by a police officer after his owner had a seizure. Now, video footage has surfaced.

The cell phone footage shows the dog barking viciously at the officer, and then circling around his owner before charging the officer.

When the dog charged, the officer fired a single shot, which struck the dog in the head.

Horrified, the onlookers started yelling at the officer for shooting the animal.

While the officer fired the shot, his fellow officer tried spraying mace at the dog, which had no effect on it.

The officer claims that he was acting in self-defense.
