Driving Dogs Are Back At It, Now On The Racetrack Making Turns [Video]
Remember that absurd video of driving dogs last week? Well, we received the update we were promised today, and these driving dogs are now hitting the race track and making turns.
Two kiwi dogs were successfully taught how to drive, as they took the wheel of a modified Mini Clubman and drove around a track in New Zealand.
Porter, a 10 month old beardie cross and Monty, a giant schnauzer cross, were trained for eight weeks how to hit the gas, brakes, change gears, and steer.
“We are absolutely delighted that the public has been able to see first hand just how gifted, talented and intelligent SPCA animals really are,” said their trainers in a statement.
“Monty, Ginny and Porter have been outstanding ambassadors for the many animals sitting in SPCA shelters throughout the country and the world waiting to find a home, said Christine Kalin, SPCA Auckland CEO.
“We hope that people will take the ‘driving dogs’ message to heart and that SPCA dog’s will be their first choice, not only because they are smart and intelligent, but because they have been abandoned and deserve a home.”
Soon enough, man’s best friend could become man’s wing man and designated driver. Now I need a dog.
