A video shot by an Israeli zookeeper shows a herd of elephants forming a barricade around their young at the sound of air raid sirens warning the Tel Aviv suburb of Ramat Gan of air strikes.

According to Buzzfeed, zookeepers at the Safari Zoo were worried how their animals would respond to the air raid sirens only to discover that, much like humans, their first reaction was to make sure their young were safe.

The adult elephants stood over the infants and then in a tight line, shielding them from the eye of a predator shortly before a loud boom is heard nearby.

These rockets were the first in history to reach central Israel, but no casualties or serious injuries were reported as most residents were in bomb shelters.
