The cracking open of a champagne bottle is usually a symbol of joy and decadence. But yesterday afternoon, there were only tears of grief when a tractor-trailer carrying a massive amount of champagne crashed, turned over and split open on I-395 in Connecticut.

According to Gothamist, the accident occurred in the town of Griswold at roughly 2:30 p.m.. Apparently, the driver pulled a “Due Date” and “failed to move left for the construction pattern,” crashing right into a Department of Transportation truck.

Both drivers suffered minor injuries.

This wouldn’t be too harrowing if it weren’t for those orange boxes, which suggests that these were cases of Veuve Clicquot, some of the classiest bubbly around.

Our hearts go out to whoever has to pay for these damaged goods.

Finally! The Scientific Reason Why Scratching Makes You Itch More
