A father accidentally shot his daughter during an argument at the family home, as he missed his intended target, the 25-year-old woman’s boyfriend.

Dante D.White, 49, was arrested after he accidentally shot his daughter in the arm at their Chicago home on Saturday.

White was arguing with his daughter’s boyfriend and prompted him to leave.

White’s daughter stepped between the men, and a shot that was intended for her boyfriend ended up striking her in the arm.

Police were called to the address in St Austin, at 2 PM on Saturday.

The woman was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was reported to be in a stable condition.

Another of White’s daughters and five of White’s grandchildren were also at the property when the incident occurred.

White fled the scene, and dumped the .25-caliber handgun into a garbage can.

When discovered, the gun had two rounds in it.

White was apprehended, and faces charges of defacing the serial number of the gun, unauthorized use of a firearm by a felon, with additional charges expected to be brought against him in the near future.

White, who authorities say is a documented gang member, has had his bail set at $200,000.
