A study published in the General Hospital Psychiatry Journal broke a long time held myth: that the full moon affects our behavior and makes us go crazy.

The truth is that there is almost no correlation at all between the phases of the moon and the human psyche.

Researchers took a look at nearly 800 patients at two Montreal hospitals over the span of three years. They specifically looked at patients that came into the ER with “unexplained chest pains” because “people with this complaint often suffer from many psychological difficulties, including panic attacks, anxiety and mood disorders, and suicidal thoughts.”

The only correlation that they found was that during the moon’s last quarter; there was a 32% drop in the frequency of anxiety disorders. Other than that, nothing was found that points to the belief that a full moon will make you go crazy or turn you into a werewolf.
