Between Gmail and Youtube the ubiquitous search engine, Google, has a hell of a lot of videos, emails and random data stored up…somewhere.

This slideshow will show you the step by step process of how every single search, video and email you view gets accessed in Google’s mysterious yet incredibly vast database.

Simply put, this is how and where all the magic happens every time Google generates the endless amount of information each day that makes your life that much easier.

Your clicks and queries end up here, at a Google server farm near you

Someone is on site 24 hours a day

Here, the equipment looks at your click on Google or YouTube and decides which server should respond

That request is then sent to the "server floor"

These computers actually deal with the billions of Google searches, YouTube video plays, and Gmail messages

Google keeps two copies of your data, each on different servers

Google stores your really important stuff on yet another drive, here in the "tape library"

These little robot arms move the tapes around.

How Voter Turnout For Scottish Independence Puts America’s Elections To Shame

On September 18, Scotland voted on a national referendum that simply asked its people, “Should Scotland be an independent country?” This was a momentous vote and would have downsized the British Commonwealth to a measly 52 nations, had it passed.
