Groundbreaking Study Reveals Women Mature Faster Than Men Do

by Sean Levinson

A recent study commissioned by Nickelodeon UK has revealed that not only do women mature faster than men but also that the average man doesn't attain actual maturity until the age of 32.

Researchers viewed cracking dirty jokes, eating child-like food and driving irresponsibly as signs of immaturity. They found that it just takes men longer than women to drop old habits like excessive drinking, reckless driving and laughing at toilet humor.

Tim Patterson, VP and Director of Programming of Nickelodeon UK, said that the themes of new show Wendell and Vinnie are a shockingly realistic representation of how long it takes a man to actually "grow up."

"As a man, especially one who works for a children’s channel, the question if men ever reach maturity is one I am well accustomed to … However as the characters Wendell and Vinnie show in our new programme, a difference in maturity between two people definitely makes for an amusing partnership."

He said that it isn't until his early forties that a man can let go of his childish insecurities that have been halting him from fully adapting to the outside world.

Many of the surveyed women shared the mutual complaint that a blatant indicator of immaturity for most men is their inability to discuss their emotions with even their closest friends and family members.

Nearly half of these women said that they have assumed a "mother" role in a current or previous relationship. 30% of them said that the issue of male immaturity plays a significant role in their love life and has either crippled or completely tore apart a past relationship.
