The shootings in Sandy Hook, Connecticut today were all done with the use of a .223 caliber rifle, according to NBC.

CNN reports that 20 year old Adam Lanza used one Sig Sauer and one Glock. While Glock doesn’t manufacture assault rifles, Sig Sauer is the “Rolls Royce” of assault rifle producers.

According to USA Today, the weapon was most likely a magazine fed, semi-automatic rifle with enough rounds to shoot about a hundred shots in a matter of minutes.

While it is fairly common for a civilian to own a .223 caliber rifle, it is still of the same quality of the NATO 5.56 round the military use in combat.
