IKEA Recalls Almond Cakes Because They Contain Sh*t
The chefs at IKEA can’t seem to get things right. Last week they recalled their meatballs because they contained horse meat; this week they are recalling their almond cakes because they may contain shit — literally.
The cakes were found to contain high levels of bacteria called coliform bacteria — a bacteria most commonly found in the feces of warm-blooded animals. The recalled cakes all originated from the same supplier in Sweden and had been exported to 23 countries:
Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates.
From an IKEA spokesperson:
“There is no health risk associated with consuming this product…However, since the product does not comply with our strict food quality standards we have decided to withdraw the concerned production batches from sale in the 23 affected countries. “
So basically, although there is shit in the cakes, you should eat them anyway because they won’t kill you. Or at least, please don’t sue.
