It seems that Hamas and Israel have finally come to a ceasefire agreement. Starting today, Wednesday the 21st of November, at 9:00pm local time (2pm EDT), both sides promise to halt attacks while Israel, in addition, also promises to ease the Israeli blockade constricting the Gaza Strip.

Hillary Clinton, The U.S. Secretary of State, stood with Egypt’s foreign minister, Mohammed Kamel Amr, as he made the announcement.

Clinton believes that the agreement will “improve conditions for the people of Gaza and provide security for the people of Israel.” Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, stated that he agreed to the ceasefire after first consulting with President Barack Obama.

So far Israel has launched well over 1,500 airstrikes and attacks on the Gaza Strip, killing 140 Palestinians- many of which were civilians- while 5 Israeli’s have died in the fighting. Talks about a new boarder arrangement will begin after a 24-hour cooling off period.
