This girl decided to push her luck while in court, and she pushed a little too far, as a hand gesture and a four-letter word earned her a 30-day jail sentence.
Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat does not mess around, and 18-year-old Penelope Soto learned the hard way.
Soto was arrested for drug possession, and did not show Judge Rodriguez-Chomat the respect he deserved in court, as she played with her hair, dodged questions and laughed inappropriately during her hearing on Monday.
The judge gave her a $5,000 fine and said “bye bye,” to which Soto laughed and responded “adios.”
For whatever reason, this infuriated the judge, so he upped the fine to $10,000.
“Are you serious?” Soto asked, to which the judge responded “I am serious. Adios.”
Soto then gave the judge the middle finger and cursed at him on her way out, which earned her a 30-day jail sentence for contempt in court.
I bet she wishes she could take those five minutes back.
