Man Shoots Girlfriend For Not Believing In Zombie Apocalypse
Arguments in a relationship are known to sometimes unnecessarily escalate. Usually the more serious the argument, the more heated it gets. Sometimes, however, an argument over something insignificant and even ludicrous such as one not believing in Zombie Apocalypse, can be blown way out of proportion.
That is exactly what happened when 26-year-old Jared Gurman shot his girlfriend, 27-year-old Jessica Gelderman, in the back for not believing that a zombie apocalypse, as depicted in the TV Series The Walking Dead, is a possibility.
“He feels strongly about the possibility that some military mishap could occur. She thinks it’s ridiculous,” Nassau County Detective Raymond Cote reported. “She was not taking him seriously or taking the show as seriously as he does.”
“Feels strongly” seems to be a bit of an understatement. During Monday morning, a text message conversation between Gurman and his girlfriend concerning said zombie invasion quickly became heated. When Gelderman went to visit her boyfriend’s house to calm him down, he did what any person would do… he shot her in the back with a .22 caliber assault rifle.
“Her injuries are a shattered rib, a pierced lung, a pierced diaphragm and she is in serious, but stable condition,” stated Cote.
Gurman apparently came to his senses and drove his girlfriend to the hospital. Police then arrested Gurman and charged him with second-degree attempted murder.
