‘Oh Sweet Lorraine': The Song Written By A 96-Year-Old That Is Climbing The Charts (Video)
There are certain names you expect to see atop the iTunes charts, but 96-year-old Fred Stobaugh is no Katy Perry.
He does, however, have the number seven song on the iTunes chart right now, as a song he wrote as an ode to his deceased wife of 73 years was professionally recorded and presented in a YouTube documentary, quickly going viral and capturing the hearts of millions.
“Oh Sweet Lorraine” is the result of a lifetime of cherishing his dear wife, who Fred married in 1940 and tragically lost this April.
His time with his wife inspired the lyrics of a song, which Fred submitted to a contest at Green Shoe Studio in East Peoria, Illinois.
While his submission was not a video submission like the contest called for, the studio decided to help compose and produce the song with professional singers and musicians.
The song is breathtaking, as Fred’s love for Lorraine is the sort of passion we can only hope to have for somebody one day.
