An armed madman in Middlefield, Ohio opened fire on police officers with an AK-47 during a routine traffic stop in broad daylight.

The man, 42-year-old James Gilkerson, opened his car door and let off a barrage of bullets towards the police cruiser, firing a total of 37 rounds at the cops.

The two officers, Erin Thomas and Brandon Savage, returned fire and killed Gilkerson.

The March 10th incident shocked the community, and police say they still have no idea why Gilkerson snapped.

“He got of the vehicle, intending to kill my officers. We don’t know why he did it,” said Middlefield Police Chief Arnold Stanko.

Gilkerson was pulled over for failing to stop at an intersection, and after sitting in his car for a few minutes, he inexplicably got out of his car and opened fire on officers.

Check out the uncensored video of the incident below, but beware, it is extremely graphic.
