Pet Pug Discovered Eating Its Owner’s Face After He Died In His Apartment

A pet pug was found eating the decomposing flesh on the face of its deceased 46-year-old owner, as the man died in his home and was rotting for several days.

Police say that the small dog’s only source of food was its owner’s rotting corpse, as the dog was trapped alone with the body for days in the Wichita, Kansas apartment.

Neighbors say they had not seen the resident of the apartment since January 1st. It is unknown how long he was dead.

According to KWCH-TV, a maintenance man discovered the body on Saturday, when a neighbor asked the man to check on the apartment since the dog was constantly barking.

Officers found that the dog had eaten away on the soft tissue of the man’s face, as well as many other parts of his body.

Wichita veterinarian Dr. Dan Thompson said dog ate away at the body because it had no other choice to survive.

“It’s just circumstantial. The little guy had to survive. That’s what happened,” Dr Thompson said.

“You can have a perfectly normal dog that will do this. As sad and disturbing as it is, it’s not unusual,” he added.

According to neighbors, the unnamed resident of the apartment had Parkinson’s Disease and drank heavily.

The dog was taken by the city’s animal control department and will be put up for adoption at the local humane society after it is checked out by veterinarians.
