A one-year-old baby boy has been hospitalized with severe facial injuries after being mauled by the family’s pit bull-wolf hybrid.
The incident occurred in Livermore Falls, Maine, on Saturday, when the boy reportedly looked over the barricade which keeps the dog out of the same room as the child.
Suddenly, the pit bull-wolf hybrid bit the child’s face and pulled him over the barrier.
The day before the incident, however, the town’s animal control officer had ordered that the dog be quarantined in the family’s bathroom.
The dog was not quarantined, and the next day, it was able to get a hold of the infant’s head and viciously maul the boy.
When his parents rushed to his aid, the boy’s mother was also attacked by the animal, suffering injuries to her arm.
The child was rushed to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, where he underwent surgery on Sunday for facial injuries.
The dog was finally euthanized by animal control officers who responded to the home after the attack.
I’ll never understand people who keep violent dogs, especially when they have an infant child.
