A Virginia woman has been arrested on a slew of charges, including child neglect, possession of heroin, and driving under the influence, after she was discovered slumped over in her car outside of a courthouse by a police officer.
Billie Jolene Warburton, 30, was found passed out on her steering wheel in front of the Mills E. Godwin, Jr. Courts Building by a police officer on Monday morning.
The officer approached her because he saw she had the window open, the motor running and a child crying in the back seat.
When he got closer, he saw blood on the center console and track marks on her forearms.
According to the officer, Warburton told him that “her 23-month-old son was crying since he had not been fed since the prior evening.”
Child Protective Services was called and they took custody of the toddler. His father, Brad Warburton, was not at the scene and was not charged in relation to the event.
Warburton was arrested and sent to Western Tidewater Regional Jail with no bond. She could not be reached for comment.
