Aaron Aranza, a father from Houston, Texas, was charged with injury to a child when he attacked his 14-year-old daughter for bringing a black boy to a dance.

On April 11, Aranza’s daughter wanted to practice dancing for her upcoming quinceañera, so she threw a party at her grandmother’s house. The dance requires many pairs of males and females, so the 14-year-old picked a 15-year-old black male to be her partner.

Aranza realized what his daughter had done and apparently became so enraged that he yelled at party-goers and declared that the party was over.

After this dramatic episode, he asked his daughter if she was “serious” about choosing this black male to dance with.

Aranza then shoved the young man, shouting “I don’t care if you are a kid!” and took his daughter into the house, where he started to beat her with a belt, dragging and tossing her around the room.

The 14-year-old struggled against the grip of her father, who was pulling her across the front yard and claiming that he was taking her home with him.

Luckily, Aranza soon left the premises and was later arrested.

He is now being held in Harris County jail on a $20,000 bail.

The Lego Visitor Center Actually Looks Like It’s Made Of Lego Blocks

Architect Bjarke Ingels believes Lego building blocks, and their proportions, represent “the golden ratio of architecture.” In that case, it only makes sense that the new Lego visitor center in Billund, Denmark, will look like it was constructed by a giant toddler with unlikely architectural prowess. The first six foundational stones of the building were […]

Ashkenazi Jews Are All Decedents Of 330 People And, Therefore, 30th Cousins

If you’re an Ashkenazi Jew, you are one of more than 10 million who descended from just 330 people. According to the Los Angeles Times, a team of scientists from universities all over the US and Israel compared the genome sequences of 128 Ashkenazi Jews to those of 26 non-Jews from Belgium. The team was […]

Slow Down, America: Johnny Football Isn’t Ready For Primetime Yet

About a month ago, I speculated about why the media is so obsessed with Johnny Manziel, the Heisman-winning quarterback who became a first-round draft pick and de facto savior of the Cleveland Browns. He’s brash and enjoying his fame like any other 21-year-old would. Two weeks into the preseason, however, it appears Johnny Football already […]
