Aaron Aranza, a father from Houston, Texas, was charged with injury to a child when he attacked his 14-year-old daughter for bringing a black boy to a dance.
On April 11, Aranza’s daughter wanted to practice dancing for her upcoming quinceañera, so she threw a party at her grandmother’s house. The dance requires many pairs of males and females, so the 14-year-old picked a 15-year-old black male to be her partner.
Aranza realized what his daughter had done and apparently became so enraged that he yelled at party-goers and declared that the party was over.
After this dramatic episode, he asked his daughter if she was “serious” about choosing this black male to dance with.
Aranza then shoved the young man, shouting “I don’t care if you are a kid!” and took his daughter into the house, where he started to beat her with a belt, dragging and tossing her around the room.
The 14-year-old struggled against the grip of her father, who was pulling her across the front yard and claiming that he was taking her home with him.
Luckily, Aranza soon left the premises and was later arrested.
He is now being held in Harris County jail on a $20,000 bail.
