Everyone wants to make their marriage proposal unforgettable, but few are actually able to accomplish such a feat- and just about no one gets it on time-lapse video.

Neuroscientist Alex Rivest studies how brains form episodic memories, so it seemed fitting that he make this memory into physical format.

The video was shot in Iceland on a Canon 5D Mark II and a Canon 40D. The result really is quite beautiful. Rivest captioned his video with this quote:

“On a trip to Iceland I asked my girlfriend to marry me under the aurora borealis … She said yes.”
