Many people consider Ground Zero at the World Trade Center a special place, regarding it as a sacred site in tribute to the loved ones who died there.

Then there are the schmucks who decide it’s okay to write racist and sexist graffiti all over the walls, as if it were just any other location.

It’s hard to believe that people would desecrate the site of the World Trade Center, given its history, but people have no limit to their vandalism. People have written all sorts of horrible things about African-Americans, Irish people, Jews as well as about women.

The offensive writing can be found throughout the 104-story Freedom Tower that has been put in place of the Twin Towers, which is expected to be finished this year.

Most of the messages written contain the N-word, and many voice their frustrations about women.

Woman (sic) don’t belong in construction! Maybe painting, that’s it,” read one insult directed at women, to which someone replied “Then who’s gonna **** us?”

It’s sad that people of all different races, religions and backgrounds can come together and build something so magnificent and powerful, yet have to let such petty things affect the way they look at and approach each other.
