Chinese scientists have discovered a technique to single out kidney cells that are found in urine and convert them into neural progenitors, which are essentially pre-brain cells. That’s right, pee is turned into a type of cell that we thought could never be replaced.
Although cell reprogramming has been done successfully many times before, it has never included such an unorthodox process as utilizing kidney cells found in urine.This newly discovered technique will be very beneficial for advancement in the continuous study and treatment methods of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s.
