A shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown Connecticut has just been reported. There are possibly two shooters- one of which has been shot dead. Police have confirmed that there have been multiple victims.

The exact numbers of victims has yet to be confirmed, but one witness said that the principal has been shot dead.

Police also carried one child that was said to be “apparently seriously wounded”. Another person in one of the rooms suffered from “numerous gunshot wounds”.

Reuters’ Mathew Keys is tweeting that as many as four adults were injured in the shooting. The police are questioning a handcuffed suspect who is believed to be the second shooter.

The shooting took place this morning at 9:41am. The reason for the shooting is yet to be uncovered. We will keep you posted as the story unveils.

-A Danbury Hospital official confirms three patients have been admitted from the scene at Sandy Hook Elementary. She would not say whether their injuries were gunshot wounds, however.

-NBC Connecticut just aired a live interview with a parent who claimed she’d been told the school’s principal was shot and is dead. That report is not confirmed.

-NBC New York is reporting there has only been one fatality so far, the shooter.

-NBC Nightly News reports the shooter was an adult and two handguns have been recovered from the scene at Sandy Hook Elementary.

-The Associated Press reports a teacher was also wounded in the shooting and the Hartford Courant is now reporting there were “multiple deaths” as a result of the shooting. Police are supposed to give more information at a news conference at 1:00 p.m. EST.

-The Hartford Courant has confirmed that children are among the dead after this morning’s shooting.

-Neighboring schools are also on lockdown. Reddit has a thread by someone who claims to be in one of those schools right now.

-CBS News has learned the gunman was possibly the father of a student at Sandy Hook Elementary.

-Federal law enforcement is now saying there were more than a dozen people shot and killed this morning.

-The Associated Press now cites an anonymous official who 27 people are dead, 18 of them are children. Columbine’s death toll was 15; 32 died in the Virginia Tech massacre.

-One shooter is 21 years old, was masked and had 2 handguns. Took his own life after the mass shooting.

-The second shooter is said to be 24 years old. Had a bullet proof vest and was armed with 4 weapons.

-SWAT is now searching the home of the suspected second shooter.

UPDATE [2:07]:  A source close to law enforcement officials is now saying that the shooter is 20 years old. His connection to the school is unknown.
