Everyone knows that one guy who doesn’t start flirting until he has a few drinks in him. Apparently, one in three men think they are more attractive when they’ve been drinking alcohol.
The only problem with this theory is women don’t necessarily agree, as one in eight women think men are more attractive when they are drunk.
35 percent of men rate themselves as more attractive after having a few pints, whereas just 13 percent of women feel the same and two in five say they think their partner is less attractive after drinking.
42 percent of women go even further, saying that they “hate” it when their partner is drunk.
Men who are single generally believe that they are boosting their chances with the opposite sex by downing a few pints before they try out their best moves.
The survey of 4,000 people was commissioned by Cancer Research UK to mark its new fundraising campaign Dryathlon, which calls on the nation to test its willpower by swearing off alcohol for January.
“We wanted to explore some of the myths we thought men held on to about how they appeared to the opposite sex after a drink or two,” said spokesman Ed Aspel.
“The fact that 42 percent of all women hate it when their partners are drunk is a pretty good incentive to give Dryathlon a go and stay off the booze for a month.
“Not only might they have more luck with the ladies, they can do it in the knowledge that they’re raising money for a good cause at the same time.”
Next time you’re trying to woo her, see what happens when you don’t drink. You may like the results.
