The third Cleveland kidnapping victim, Michele Knight, who has not been seen publicly since being rescued, is said to have been beaten so badly that she may need facial reconstruction surgery.
In addition, Knight is said to have lost her hearing in one ear from the beatings at the hands of her captor, Ariel Castro.
Knight, 32, was held in captivity the longest of the three girls, as she was kidnapped by Castro in 2002, and she is also the oldest.
Ms. Knight insisted on having her privacy when released, and some reports say that she refused to see her mother when offered.
The family of Gina DeJesus, one of the other girls who escaped Ariel Castro’s wrath, is insisting that Michele Knight stays with them.
Details of Knight’s time with Castro are horrific, as Castro repeatedly raped her, causing her to miscarry at least 5 times by punching her in the stomach and starving her.
Her younger brother, Freddie Knight, visited her in the hospital after her freedom was announced.
“When I saw her, she was white as a ghost,” he told The New York Post. “But she told me, ‘Come over here and give me a hug. It’s been ages!’
“She was happy to see me. It was emotional. She even recognized me – even though it had been 11 years.”
There won’t be a prison sentence severe enough to match the pain these girls suffered over the past decade.
