Two thieves attempting to get away with some precious jewels only got away with some chicken and gravy, as the wall they tunneled through that they thought led to a jewelry store really led to a KFC.
The incident happened in Beudesert, Australia, and the two thieves ended up in the fried chicken joint instead of the jewelry store, making off with about £1,000 in cash.
The men did not have much time with their loot, however, as Queensland police caught Peter Welsh, 32, and Dwayne Doolan, 31, shortly after the robbery.
It was allegedly the pair’s third attempt to break into the jewelry store on New Year’s Eve.
Welsh has been charged with armed robbery, stealing, burglary and attempted burglary. Doolan has been charged with robbery and stealing.
Welsh was refused bail, but Doolan was granted bail. The two are due back in court in March.
KFC has some damn good chicken, but I wouldn’t risk jail time for it.
