A tourist in Chile has made Santiago Airport his home while he patiently waits on money from family to leave the country.
Rodrigo Ben-Azul, normally a resident of Spain, has become a fixture at the airport. Flat broke, he eats out of garbage cans and sleeps in a “small corner at night.”
Ben-Azul told newspaper PubliMetro that he arrived in the South American country in November to “resolve a dispute” with family members that lived there.
After failing to repair family ties, he has been in the airport waiting for relatives to send him money to get home.
“I am trying to return to Spain,” he told Chilean TV station Megavision.
“I’m waiting for them to send me money for the ticket.“
