A Peruvian actor and environmentalist married a tree in Argentina on Sunday, KXAN reports.

Dressed in a white suit and blue hat, Richard Torres had guests perform readings at the ceremony in one of Buenos Aires’ most popular parks.

He then read his vows out loud and was presented with a ring before kissing the tree several times to make the marriage official.

According to the U.K. Metro, Torres said he staged the wedding to draw attention to environmental issues and intends to spread awareness by engaging in similarly loony acts all across Latin America.
