This Is How US Army Uniforms Have Changed Over 240 Years Of Service (Video)

by Eitan Levine

In honor of the US Army’s 240th birthday, IJReview wants to give us a tour through the fashion history of our nation’s army.

From this video, it appears we have always been super into very distinctive hats that, until WW1, were not even close to being practical for a war setting.

That War of 1812 headcover looks super fancy, but there is no way you could fight in that thing.

How are you supposed to hide when you’ve got a 4-foot blue brick with silver accents attached to your head?

Also, those two Civil War hats look like melted pancakes.

Happy birthday, US Army. If your continued service to our country is half as unwavering as your commitment to donning elaborate headgear, we’ll be fine.
