What To Name Your Babies If You Want People To Think They're Hot

by Emily Arata

The votes are in and the English are out: The sexiest names in the world belong to those people with mysterious supermodel names.

Stodgy Anglo-Saxon and Germanic names have fallen by the wayside.

Laura Wattenberg, the woman behind the Baby Name Wizard, asked users of her 40,000-name database to rank the website's catalog on a sexiness scale from one to 100.

When thousands of votes came pouring in, Wattenberg knew she'd struck gold.

She told Live Science there was a clear trend toward names from across the world, especially names that sound like something a "Latin lover" might bear.

Wattenberg said,

One thing that leaps out at you is that we do have a mostly American and English-speaking user base, and Americans still have the image of the Latin lover. These names are Italian and Spanish and French. You can even go Russian, with Dmitri.

Nearly all of the sexiest female names have been pulled straight from the runway and red carpet: Alessandra Ambrosio, Scarlett Johansson and Chanel Iman are all present.

For men, we err into the hyper-masculine and Italian with names like "Rhett" and "Lorenzo."

This is the year of "Fifty Shades of Grey," after all, so it would only make sense the sexiest names are as unabashedly erotic as we are.
