"There are so many ways to win and lose in MMA...knockouts, submissions, left hands, right hands, but also elbows and knees. There's and upset on almost every card. On paper you can have a guy who looks like he has the tools to win, but one zig when you should have zagged and the fight is over. That's the way the sport is and why it gets people so excited." - Matt Serra, former UFC welterweight champ who TKO'd Georges St-Pierre at UFC 69 for the biggest upset in MMA history
Gorgeous Ring Girls
After every round of high-flying bone-crunching action, there is no better way to deescalate the mood then to have some of the most beautiful women walking across the ring reminding fans what round it is. Current MMA Ring Girls: UFC - Arianny Celeste, Rachelle Leah, Brittney Palmer, Chandella Powell Strikeforce - Kelli Hutcherson, Jessica Harbour, Corissa Furr Bellator - Jade Bryce Pacific X-Treme Combat - Abby Pablador, Ayumi Sogawa BAMMA, Cage Warriors - Hayley Sams
Mixed martial arts is not for the faint-of-heart to say the least. Many of the fights get straight barbaric and downright gruesome. Fighters must continue to compete through all types of bruises, cuts and even bone breakage. Unlike any other sport, these athletes must prepare like actual warriors; inflicting and fighting through all sorts of pain. The end result often looks like the work of some of Hollywood's greatest make-up artists as their faces are battered and bloodied.
Everyday a Star is Born
Gladiators like Jon "Bones" Jones, Junior Dos Santos, and Tony Ferguson are part of a new generation of sports stars. As MMA moves out of obscurity, fighters are now as athletes from traditional sports. There is such a great influx of talent in MMA that there is a handful new superstars every year it seems. Especially in the UFC you can see every weight division is absolutely stacked, and when you have this you get some of the most competitive and exciting battles in all of sports.
Kevin James, Anthony Bourdain, Snoop Dogg and Ashton Kutcher all cheer at the sight of a well-executed gogoplata. Many celebrities and even athletes from other sports become fans and start to train themselves. They find many of the techniques and training skills useful and carry into their own sport or craft. Plus its just badass to know how to superman punch someone in the face. Now all we need is for a couple celebrities to step into the ring and show us what they got!
Beautiful women are into it
According to the UFC, 37% of its viewers are female! Jessica Biel, Paris Hilton, Cindy Crawford and Mandy Moore are all fans. Add the fact that their are even MMA leagues for women (some of which are actually hot) there is no excuse for your next MMA viewing part should be lady-less. We all know women like tough guys and whose tougher than an MMA fighter?
Weaknesses are exploited
Seriously, the official rule book prohibits "timidity, including avoiding contact with an opponent, intentionally or consistently dropping the mouth-piece or faking injury." MMA is not for sissies, in fact you have to be at least a little crazy to even fight in one of these matches. Once you step into the ring, there is no running back so man up!
Rear naked choke: Cuts off blood to the carotid arteries. Bicep slicer: Bony limbs forced into opponent's bicep. Crucifix neck crank: Deeply distresses the cervical spine.

Stereotyping is seldom a justified act, let’s just get that straight. Painting a group of people with a broad brush rarely produces accurate results. And, if you’re judging people based on something that’s out of their control, you’re just going down the wrong road. However, there are just some things you can tell about a man […]
Millennials artfully craft completely make up new words constantly. In 2013, twerk, selfie, and jorts were added to the Oxford English Dictionary Online, among others. Thank you, Bob Dylan, for another amazing contribution to society. Today is the 50th anniversary of the day that changed music history. No, it wasn’t the meeting of John Lennon and Paul McCartney, or the day Lennon met Yoko. More important than those days was the day Bob Dylan met the Beatles and introduced them […]
