"There are so many ways to win and lose in MMA...knockouts, submissions, left hands, right hands, but also elbows and knees. There's and upset on almost every card. On paper you can have a guy who looks like he has the tools to win, but one zig when you should have zagged and the fight is over. That's the way the sport is and why it gets people so excited." - Matt Serra, former UFC welterweight champ who TKO'd Georges St-Pierre at UFC 69 for the biggest upset in MMA history
Gorgeous Ring Girls
After every round of high-flying bone-crunching action, there is no better way to deescalate the mood then to have some of the most beautiful women walking across the ring reminding fans what round it is. MMA ring girls are exceptionally hot, especially compared to other fighting sports ring girls and professional cheerleaders. Current MMA Ring Girls: UFC - Arianny Celeste, Rachelle Leah, Brittney Palmer, Chandella Powell Strikeforce - Kelli Hutcherson, Jessica Harbour, Corissa Furr Bellator - Jade Bryce Pacific X-Treme Combat - Abby Pablador, Ayumi Sogawa BAMMA, Cage Warriors - Hayley Sams
Mixed martial arts is not for the faint-of-heart to say the least. Many of the fights get straight barbaric and downright gruesome. Fighters must continue to compete through all types of bruises, cuts and even bone breakage. Unlike any other sport, these athletes must prepare like actual warriors; inflicting and fighting through all sorts of pain. The end result often looks like the work of some of Hollywood's greatest make-up artists as their faces are battered and bloodied.
Everyday a Star is Born
Gladiators like Jon "Bones" Jones, Junior Dos Santos, and Tony Ferguson are part of a new generation of sports stars. As MMA moves out of obscurity, fighters are now as athletes from traditional sports. There is such a great influx of talent in MMA that there is a handful new superstars every year it seems. Especially in the UFC you can see every weight division is absolutely stacked, and when you have this you get some of the most competitive and exciting battles in all of sports.
Kevin James, Anthony Bourdain, Snoop Dogg and Ashton Kutcher all cheer at the sight of a well-executed gogoplata. Many celebrities and even athletes from other sports become fans and start to train themselves. They find many of the techniques and training skills useful and carry into their own sport or craft. Plus its just badass to know how to superman punch someone in the face. Now all we need is for a couple celebrities to step into the ring and show us what they got!
Beautiful women are into it
According to the UFC, 37% of its viewers are female! Jessica Biel, Paris Hilton, Cindy Crawford and Mandy Moore are all fans. Add the fact that their are even MMA leagues for women (some of which are actually hot) there is no excuse for your next MMA viewing part should be lady-less. We all know women like tough guys and whose tougher than an MMA fighter?
Weaknesses are exploited
Seriously, the official rule book prohibits "timidity, including avoiding contact with an opponent, intentionally or consistently dropping the mouth-piece or faking injury." MMA is not for sissies, in fact you have to be at least a little crazy to even fight in one of these matches. Once you step into the ring, there is no running back so man up!
Rear naked choke: Cuts off blood to the carotid arteries. Bicep slicer: Bony limbs forced into opponent's bicep. Crucifix neck crank: Deeply distresses the cervical spine.

After 21 years of the most legendary color commentary in sports, WWE announcer Jim Ross is officially saying goodbye as his contract with the wrestling company is finally up. Jim is, of course, the same guy who’s dubbed over all the epic dunks, hits or falls that take over the Internet, and it’s really kind […]
Has your significant other ever annoyed you to the point of insanity? Looks like the girlfriend of this man from Fife, Washington, did just that, forcing him to end an argument by launching himself from the passenger seat of a moving car this past Saturday. Yikes. KOMO reports that police spotted him and flashed their sirens, […]
It’s been 100 days since armed insurgents broke into a schoolhouse in the northeast Nigeria town of Chibok, abducting an estimated 276* young women aged 16 to 18. When these girls were first kidnapped, many media outlets didn’t approach the issue; The New York Times, for example, took two days to publish their first story […]
Before I read any Kanye West cover story, I ask myself, “Do I have a lifejacket for all the confusion and irony that I’m surely about to sink in?” I always assume the answer to be yes only to realize, ultimately, that I once again boarded the Titanic where my last nerve and better senses […]
There’s a good chance you’ve never heard what a shotgun sounds like when it’s equipped with a silencer. Sure, we’ve all heard what a silenced pistol sounds like. If you haven’t, then you haven’t watched a single “James Bond” film! In a recent video uploaded to YouTube by Chris Cheng, a San Francisco-based sport shooter, […]
It’s 2014 — we’ve got smartphones, tablets and wireless speakers, but Americans still can’t seem to get laid on their own. Over the past few years, we have been inundated with dozens of mobile applications that help people connect with other people. Despite all of our social media use, we’ve actually become anti-social, thus creating […]

How do we define the act of being fearless? Sometimes it is hard to break free from the crowd or truly live out our dreams because of the thought of failure. We all tend to create our own definitions throughout our lives, but here are a few jumping off points to consider when trying to […]
Canadian graphic designer Brennan Gleason wanted to get his name out there, but didn’t want to sacrifice the time he spent brewing his homemade beer. He wanted a way to combine the two — his need to market himself and his need to sip a delicious ale — so he created Gleason’s Résum-ale. Gleason’s Résum-ale is made with special […]
No one’s ever accused Britney Spears of being a virtuosic singer, but I had no idea she was this bad. An unedited track of Britney singing the vocals for her new song “Alien” has been making the rounds and, to put it mildly, it’s not an easy listen. I could barely make it past the […]
This baby horse does not understand the very basic concept of “taking a detour” when approaching an obstacle on a path. In this video, she runs and runs in a seemingly untouchable state of bliss, but soon fails to recognize that a larger horse is blocking her tracks. After the baby horse inevitably crashes into […]
Cameron Diaz recently admitted to having been with a woman, and opened up about her attraction to women, but she couldn’t help but address the rumors going around about her and Drew Barrymore. Tabloids have instigated lots of rumors about Diaz’s love affairs, but Diaz just brushes it off. She told Harper’s Bazaar: I don’t even […]
Dan Bilzerian is a lot of things. He’s a rich man. He’s a venture capitalist. He’s a professional poker player. Many people would also say he’s an assh*le. I don’t know the guy personally, so I can’t comment on that, but he did toss a pornstar into a swimming pool, breaking her foot in the process. […]
