It's International Kiss a Ginger Day today, which means when I plant one on a hot stranger in the street, he or she's not allowed to call the police. #GingerPrivilege

But in addition to my loose interpretation of the law, today is a day for celebration of some truly spectacular redheads, particularly of the British persuasion. As an American ginger myself, I'm big enough to admit the Brits have the Americans beat.

You want proof?

1. Prince Harry

OK, let's start off with some actual ROYAL red hair, which graces the regal head of Prince Harry of Wales.

Prince Harry, as I like to call him, truly ascended the ginger ranks. I mean, he's charming, good-looking, and, oh yeah, the grandson of Queen Elizabeth II. You really could not ask for a more successful carrot top.

2. Adele

She's a London native as well as the angelic voice who will always be there for your cathartic sobbing. I guess gingers do have souls after all, so take THAT, "South Park" fans who went to middle school with me!

3. Ed Sheeran

I'd be remiss if I didn't include this smooth-talking carrot on the list.

Originally from a small town in England, Ed Sheeran captured the hearts of teenage girls across the world, and OK, fine, he got me a little bit, too. What can I say, I'm helpless against a ginger who can sing!

4. Rupert Grint

So, Rupert will have to represent all my favorite magical redheads (sorry, Domhnall Gleeson).

This ginger from England bought an ice cream truck with that sweet "HP" money, completing his transformation into the actual Ron Weasley and making him the most delightful man ever.

5. Geri Halliwell

Geri Halliwell aka GINGER SPICE, BITCH!!! She was the COOLEST Spice Girl, and yes, I will happily fight you on this.

Who else could rock such iconic outfits? Who else could make being an assertive woman so cool? She's a ginger legend, truly, and from England, of course. Thanks for all the Halloween costumes, boo.

6. Benedict Cumberbatch

Ah, Benedict Cumberbatch, or as I like to call him, Bread Sandwich Cranberry Sack. Another London native, he became the Internet's boyfriend for his fantastic portrayal of Sherlock Holmes on the BBC show "Sherlock."

And yes, his natural color is not the dark brunette of Sherlock, but adorable ginger locks. Though the Internet may tire of you, sir, I will never forget your velvety voice and prominent cheekbones.

7. Karen Gillan

Scottish actress Karen Gillan not only gave me all the feels as Amy Pond, she is also just a delightful human being. Bonus: She was Nebula in "Guardians of the Galaxy" (though she was bald and blue, so perhaps not quite repping the gingers in that one).

8. Eddie Redmayne

Originally from London, he's not only one good-lookin' ginger, he's also really good at that whole acting thing, as he proved by winning multiple acting awards last year. And, he's starring in the upcoming "Harry Potter" spin-off.

9. Florence Welch

This beautiful, red-headed flower princess is one of my favorite singers.

Originally from south London, she's released three albums with Florence + the Machine. Lungs spoke to my indie, alternative soul in high school.

10. David Bowie

The legend, the king. His hair has been every style, so I'm so glad ginger made the cut.

From Brixton, London, Bowie made ginger hair cool and inspired all of us gingers to be ourselves, no matter what that might look like. Thank you to the best of the best of British gingers, and RIP.
