Twitter Is At War Over This Cotton Candy Ice Cream "Burrito"

by Alexandra Svokos

Sugar Sugar, a dessert shop in Ontario, Canada, has created a Cotton Candy Burrito.

You read that right. It's a burrito made out of cotton candy. Of course, that's not all. The cotton candy is the outside -- the tortilla, per se -- of the burrito. The filling is actually ice cream.

Here's how they do it: some cotton candy is flattened out into tortilla-esque shape, and then ice cream is plopped in the middle. Finally, the servers wrap it all up into its final (pre-eaten) form.

So, yup, it's ice cream wrapped in cotton candy. And it looks absolutely marvelous to bite into, especially considering all the fun colors the shop makes it with. Check out the cotton candy ice cream burrito in all its glory:

But as the Cotton Candy Burrito's popularity across the internet grows, so, too, do the arguments surrounding it.

The definition of a "burrito" can be a difficult thing to nail down. What, exactly, is needed to call a wrapped food product a burrito? (And let's not even start on the question of if a burrito is also a sandwich.)

To some, all you need is something wrapped in something else. But to others, a burrito is a very specific item involving a tortilla, rice, and other fillings.

Naturally, something so unique as a cotton candy and ice cream "burrito" has got the internet up in arms. People took to Twitter to debate it out.

For some people, Sugar Sugar's creation is definitely not a burrito.

For others, the name of the concoction didn't matter quite as much as the food item itself.

Just so that we have this information on record, in case you were wondering, Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines a "burrito" as "a flour tortilla rolled or folded around a filling (as of meat, beans, and cheese)."

So, technically speaking? Definitely not a burrito.

But according to my taste buds? A cotton candy burrito by any other name would taste as sweet.
