This Unicorn Pancake Recipe Will Outdo Even The Fanciest Of Brunches

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Unicorns are taking over, so we must be prepared for their colorful conquest into our lives.

One thing I've noticed as the sparkly creatures have started their journey into 2017 is unicorns LOVE breakfast.

They've already turned our lattes periwinkle blue and transformed yogurt into fruity, rainbow unicorn bark — and now, they've made their way into our favorite brunch food: pancakes.

That's right: Unicorns have officially changed the color of our pancakes, and we can't help but stare in awe at the magical stack of doughy bliss.

Needless to say, these pancakes are prettier than any fancy brunch I've ever been to (and they're cheaper, too).

The beautiful breakfast meal was created by AO, who provided a step-by-step video tutorial on how to concoct the colorful cakes.

In case you want to give the recipe a try for yourself,  take a look at the ingredients that you'll need:

  • 135 g plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp caster sugar
  • 130 ml milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • Food coloring

As far as decorations go, feel free to go wild! However, AO's website suggests whipped cream, cotton candy and sprinkles.

If you already know how to make a stack of pancakes, the recipe is super simple.

1. Make the batter.

Using the ingredients listed above (hold off on the food coloring for now) mix the batter.

2. Add your mixture to the flour to ensure your pancakes are fluffy AF.

3. Mix it all up.

4. Add some color!

Yay! This is the fun part.

5. Add it to your pan and let it sizzle.

6. Voila! You have yourself a blue unicorn pancake.

If you repeat those steps with an assortment of different colors, you'll have a hefty stack of rainbow pancakes.

But wait! We can't forget the decorations.

To ensure your unicorn pancakes are the prettiest, shower the tower with sprinkles, cotton candy and whipped cream.

(Cotton candy was my selling point.)

The results are truly magical.

Forget about going out for brunch this weekend — I'm going to have my own unicorn-inspired breakfast full of rainbow pancakes and unicorn lattes.

Obviously, I'm welcoming the unicorn invasion in my mornings with open arms.
