Woman Hospitalized By Drunk Driver Turns Injury Selfies Into Positive Story

An Imgur user has shared a shocking and troubling photograph of herself after she was hit by a drunk driver and suffered brutal injury.

The caption reads,

Tuesday night, I was heading out to go on a date. I was hit head on by a drunk driver going the wrong way at 75 mph. I have several fractured ribs, whole face is fractured, recently had surgery on an open fracture in my arm (humerus bone) and a broken ankle. Please don't drink and drive, guys.

Needless to say, this woman is a badass.

She says that she'll have to stay in the hospital for at least another week.

Along with her various injuries was a collapsed lung, and she still has several more surgeries to undergo, including facial reconstruction.

She was on the phone with her date when she was hit by the car. And, before you ask, it was a hands-free call.

She barely walked away with her life, but thanks to an EMT-in-training who happened to be nearby, she survived.

Despite all this, she is somehow keeping a positive outlook. More than that, she is using what happened to her to spread awareness about drunk driving.

People have been sharing their own experiences with it on Imgur since she put up the photograph, along with expressing their sympathies and lending support in her time of need.

The harrowing state of her injuries is a constant reminder of her strength and resilience.

Somehow, she's not letting it faze her.
