Los Angeles Angels pitcher C.J. Wilson will undergo offseason arthroscopic surgery to remove bone spurs from his left elbow.

Wilson said after his final start of the season on Monday night in Seattle that the elbow had bothered him for the past few months.

“I tried to make a million adjustments to get around it, to the point where now I’m standing on the first-base side, trying to get an angle because I can’t throw sinkers anymore because my arm doesn’t work right,” Wilson told MLB.com. “But you’re paid to go out there and play.”

Wilson, 31, hopes to have the surgery soon. He said he expects to be recovered in time for spring training next February.

Wilson had a similar problem while pitching as a reliever with the Texas Rangers in 2008 and missed the final two months of the season.

“I bounced back pretty well the last couple of years after that,” Wilson said, “so I’m looking at that with a lot of optimism.”

Wilson won his last outing Monday to finish with a 13-10 record and a 3.83 ERA after going 9-5 with a 2.43 ERA in his first 18 starts. He has made the All-Star team the past two seasons.

What Actually Happens To A Traveler’s Identity When She Stops Traveling

I am sitting in the airport in Bangkok. It’s the same departure area where I have sat a million and one times, readying myself for whatever big adventure lay ahead: going to explore the Himalayas in Nepal, heading down to explore the underwater worlds of Indonesia, following my heart to Australia, moving back home to […]

The 10 Books (Yes, That’s Right, Books) Every Man Should Pick Up This Summer

We, Millennials, don’t typically fancy reading all that much. At least outside of our Twitter timelines. Unlike our parents, and generations before, books have never been the first choice of entertainment for us. Why would they? The Gameboy Color was released in 1998. Books pretty much went out the window when we all caught our […]

It’s Not Guns, Crime Or Hate: We The People Are The Problem With Society

“We the people” have a problem, America. It’s convenient to focus vexation at our country’s ever-present adversity on impractical venues such as government. After all, we can vote, complain, post bumper stickers and invest in campaigns, but we really can’t change much. Yet, what do we do in an effort to make changes? We find someone who resembles […]
