Los Angeles Angels pitcher C.J. Wilson will undergo offseason arthroscopic surgery to remove bone spurs from his left elbow.

Wilson said after his final start of the season on Monday night in Seattle that the elbow had bothered him for the past few months.

“I tried to make a million adjustments to get around it, to the point where now I’m standing on the first-base side, trying to get an angle because I can’t throw sinkers anymore because my arm doesn’t work right,” Wilson told MLB.com. “But you’re paid to go out there and play.”

Wilson, 31, hopes to have the surgery soon. He said he expects to be recovered in time for spring training next February.

Wilson had a similar problem while pitching as a reliever with the Texas Rangers in 2008 and missed the final two months of the season.

“I bounced back pretty well the last couple of years after that,” Wilson said, “so I’m looking at that with a lot of optimism.”

Wilson won his last outing Monday to finish with a 13-10 record and a 3.83 ERA after going 9-5 with a 2.43 ERA in his first 18 starts. He has made the All-Star team the past two seasons.

A Healthy Derrick Rose’s Bulls Are Better Than LeBron James’ Cavs

This time, we should know better. If there’s one thing sports has consistently taught us over the years, it’s that super teams do not work like magic. Recent history speaks for itself. Gary Peyton and Karl Malone joining Shaq and Kobe didn’t hand the 2004 Lakers an NBA title. Acquiring an ungodly amount of talent, headlined by […]

Russell Westbrook’s Broken Hand Will Certainly Not Help OKC’s Season

When one door closes, another opens. Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end. Despite that being what I’ve learned about life opportunities, I’m having trouble looking on the bright side of Russell Westbrook’s newly broken hand. When a particularly tricky brand of broken foot put Kevin Durant out of commission a few weeks ago, a […]

Awkward: An Old Drunk Man Confused Mindy Kaling For Malala Yousafzai

Mindy Kaling is pretty great. But, she’s small potatoes compared to Malala Yousafzai, the 17-year-old Nobel Peace Prize winner. As I’m sure you recall, Malala survived an attack by the Taliban and has since worked vigorously to fight for the rights of women and children in the Middle East. Recently, an elderly man confused Mindy for […]

The faster the history, the faster pledges were […]

Ah, the highlight reel. To some, this is our best friend, to others – they don’t really know what the f*ck it means. Well, I’m here to explain that, folks. Okay, let me try to put it in perspective: For some, remember back when you were younger, when you’d sit down for dinner with your […]

This World Is Bigger Than You: Starve Your Ego And Feed Your Soul

What’s the difference between an ego and a soul? Egos are our self-importance; they’re the part of us that tells us we matter. The bigger or more intense our egos, the more important we believe ourselves to be. Without egos, human beings cease to be individuals. They cease to have a reason for being. Egos […]
