Are The Detroit Pistons Seriously Considering Signing Jason Collins?
Sports

In what has been an offseason of solid moves and strategic acquisitions, the Detroit Pistons are looking to continue their streak by signing… Jason Collins? The sub-par, openly gay 7-foot forward may be past his prime (whenever that was), however that’s not stopping teams from calling.

According to Ramona Shelburne and Marc Stein from ESPN, the Pistons have expressed interest in signing the free agent to bolster up their already beefy (pause) frontcourt this 2013 season.

Collins is of course the first openly gay athlete to come out in major American sports as this return would be his first to the league since his admission. With big men like Greg Monroe, Andre Drummond and Josh Smith already in the line up, he will surely have more of an end-of-the-bench mentorship role with the team.

The only question left is can he still play?
