The Eagles Now Have A $15 Million Michael Vick Dilemma On Their Hands
Now that Chip Kelly is to be leading the Philly Eagles, it is unclear whether or not Michael Vick will remain on the team.
Originally it was believed that the Eagles would cut Vick this winter in order to avoid paying him his $15 million salary- but with Kelly’s offense, Vick’s dual threat QB capabilities are a perfect match.
However, there are several reasons why keeping Vick would be a bad idea. For example, he is prone to injuries- especially concussions, he hasn’t been performing very well since 2010, he has been around for a while and may find it difficult to pick up the new offense, and let’s not forget that he will cost the Eagles $15 million.
The only other option would be to look for another double-threat QB who can not only pass, but also run the ball.
Geno Smith from West Virginia will almost definitely be available once the Draft comes along, and although he isn’t quite the athlete yet, with some work he may do the trick.
