New England Tried To Taunt Ray Lewis With A Billboard Counting Down His Retirement
Actually, the party’s been going on for a couple of weeks for Ray Lewis, the Hall-of-Fame-bound Baltimore linebacker who announced his retirement effective at this season’s end.
The Ravens have pulled off two unlikely NFL playoff victories to reach Sunday’s AFC championship game against the Patriots to make this an especially long goodbye. To make the storyline even better, the Ravens managed to beat the Pats and advance to the Superbowl.
Clear Channel Outdoor in Boston had given them a little billboard material with seven LED displays around town featuring a countdown clock to suggest the party will be over for Lewis soon enough meaning the Patriots were going to beat them and send Ray Lewis packing.
Just what the Patriots need: a wake-up call from one of the best players in NFL history and they got just that.
Maybe they shouldn’t try to add fuel to a fire that has already been burning for weeks. Not a smart move on New Englands end.
