Jets Give Youtube Trick-Kicker Sensation A Try Out

The New York Jets have become something like the circus act of the NFL. Why not take it a step further and offer some lucky Youtube trick-kick sensation a tryout?

Well, that’s exactly what the Jets did when they brought in 27-year old Norwegian Havard Rugland earlier this week.

“It went well,” Rugland told NRK. “They tested me on field goals and kickoffs. Obviously you feel a little more pressure here, but I stayed pretty calm.”

Rugland has no prior American football experience but kicking coach Michael Husted says that if he continues to develop, he could reach the NFL.

“Havard has incredible talent as a kicker,” Husted, who played nine seasons as an NFL kicker. “He has a cannon for a leg. As he continues to refine his technique, he could be one of the strongest kickers in the NFL.”

Hey things can’t get much worse the the Jets, so it’s worth a shot. When all else fails, embrace the circus atmosphere and at least try to get some positive publicity out of it.
