Jim Brown, considered to be one of the greatest NFL players of all-time, pioneered the idea of the tough, trucking running back who hit linebackers harder than they hit him.

This is why it’s no surprise that Brown thought he could conquer the sport of boxing as well. It’s safe to say that if anyone had to pick a football player from the 60′s that would put up the best fight in the ring, most would put their money on Brown.

Brown apparently expressed interest in fighting even the great Muhammad Ali. What was Ali’s response? “Jim wants to do what? Bring him here,” Ali replied. When they finally met up, Ali said, “Jimmy, here’s what we’re going to do: You hit me as hard as you can.’

So Brown starts swinging and swinging, and he can’t hit him. He’s swinging wildly and not even coming close. This goes on for, like, 30 seconds. Then Ali hits him with this quick one-two to his face. Jimmy just stops and says, ‘OK, I get the point.”

Guess Brown realized how useless power is if there’s no speed or accuracy to come with it. Amazing moment in history, either way.
