Jon Jones reminded us all that he is in fact human last night when he left UFC 165 on a stretcher. In an epic battle for the light heavyweight title, Jones faced off against one of the most promising foreign exports in MMA, 26-year-old Alexander Gustafsson. And while he walked away with his champion status in tact once again, it didn’t come easy.

The fight was everything we could have asked for, with several back-and-forth exchanges, solid ground game and some rousing head kicks. In the end it was Jones who outlasted his opponent in five rounds, retaining his title for a UFC-record sixth time.

While some people may argue that Gustafsson won the fight, it was the barrage of head kicks and elbows at the end that put Jon over the top. You’re going to have to really put on a show to convince judges to name a new champion and Alexander was unable to do that. However judging by how close it was, many fans and experts are smelling a rematch.

Between Jones’ departure to the hospital in last night’s bout to his previous match against Chael Sonnen where his big toe almost ripped off, it’s safe to say that he’s been paying the cost to win lately. Oh well. Bones still knows.

A Healthy Derrick Rose’s Bulls Are Better Than LeBron James’ Cavs

This time, we should know better. If there’s one thing sports has consistently taught us over the years, it’s that super teams do not work like magic. Recent history speaks for itself. Gary Peyton and Karl Malone joining Shaq and Kobe didn’t hand the 2004 Lakers an NBA title. Acquiring an ungodly amount of talent, headlined by […]

Russell Westbrook’s Broken Hand Will Certainly Not Help OKC’s Season

When one door closes, another opens. Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end. Despite that being what I’ve learned about life opportunities, I’m having trouble looking on the bright side of Russell Westbrook’s newly broken hand. When a particularly tricky brand of broken foot put Kevin Durant out of commission a few weeks ago, a […]

Intense Pregame Haka Is Seconds Away From A Massive Brawl (Video)

USA’s basketball team didn’t take New Zealand’s Haka too seriously during the FIBA World Cup this summer, but this is still a highly respected war dance practiced by many athletes throughout the South Pacific. While it has gained worldwide recognition in the past couple of years, you won’t find a more intense encounter between two […]

13 Reasons Not Getting What You Want Is The Best Thing For You

The human spirit is incredibly resilient. Despite hearing countless stories and seeing the proof in those who have “been there, done that,” we still believe that when we set off to pursue our passions, things will go exactly as planned. We feel invincible to the odds that things may go differently than how we imagined. […]
