Four-time world champion skier Lindsey Vonn underwent successful surgery on Sunday to repair a torn anterior-cruciate ligament and medial-collateral ligament in her knee, the U.S. ski team announced.

Vonn, who also broke a bone in her lower leg, was injured last week during the super-G in Schladming, Austria.

The surgery was performed by Dr. Bill Sterett in Vail, Colo., and although he said it was too early to predict when she might return to competition, he said he is optimistic she will make a full recovery.

“The overall success rate for ACL/MCL surgery is very good. Modern surgical techniques combined with aggressive rehabilitation will help Lindsey make a full recovery”

“She will do everything in her power to return as quickly as possible to competitive skiing.”

Vonn, 28, had taken a break for a month to recover after suffering from an intestinal illness in November.

A Healthy Derrick Rose’s Bulls Are Better Than LeBron James’ Cavs

This time, we should know better. If there’s one thing sports has consistently taught us over the years, it’s that super teams do not work like magic. Recent history speaks for itself. Gary Peyton and Karl Malone joining Shaq and Kobe didn’t hand the 2004 Lakers an NBA title. Acquiring an ungodly amount of talent, headlined by […]

Russell Westbrook’s Broken Hand Will Certainly Not Help OKC’s Season

When one door closes, another opens. Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end. Guy Cries After Wisdom Tooth Surgery Because Beyoncé Never Showed Up (Video)

There was once a time when people under the influences of extremely powerful painkillers could ride out their post-wisdom teeth psychosis in private, but then someone decided to equip every cellphone with a video camera and ruin the fun for everyone. Obviously when I say “everyone,” I’m referring to the people with swollen faces who […]

College Kid Takes Falling Asleep In Class To The Next Level (Photo)

One of the things I learned far too late in my college career is that simply going to class isn’t enough to make you the learned scholar higher education is supposed to mold you into. If you’re going to put in the effort to attend, you might as well pay attention — you might even […]
